"With weapons high, we live or die, to fight for what is right.
And what is right is what we say."
-from The Soldier’s Song

Craigor is the god of War, Battle, and Conflict. The warrior's code may be honorable or bloodthirsty, but almost all followers of Craigor believe conflict is the key to growth. Competition brings about excellence, and Craigor worshipers thrive when they have the opportunity to test their mettle.

Some of the greatest military leaders in history have been devout followers of Craigor. Many believe it is the physical act of battle, fighting for your life, that best embodies the god of War. Some think strategy is the true path to Craigor’s glory, as in the end it is about decimating your enemies in battle. Regardless, it is through struggle that they persevere. The din of Battle is a call from their lord, and a worthy opponent is a gift.

The holy book of Craigor is known as “The Rules of War”. This book lays out the principles which Craigor himself allegedly provided to the first Arch Commander. There are many factions of Craigor who disagree about what the Rules of War actually contains, and few, if any, have ever read the book, learning the tenets word of mouth more often.

The following are some of the common tenets of Craigor:

  1. War must have purpose.
  2. War is to be fought amongst Warriors. The weak, sick, or pacifists should be left alone whenever possible.
  3. War requires strategy.
  4. Battle requires preparation.
  5. To lose a Battle is only acceptable if you learn from your mistakes, and use those lessons to help you win the War.

The prominence of Craigor’s worship has waxed and waned for centuries, yet always remains. The Church of Craigor is unsurprisingly structured like an army. They build their temples to look like Keeps or Barracks, which are constructed to favor officer rankings. There is only a single Arch Commander at any given time, and they are the highest authority amongst Craigor’s followers. Commanders are the next highest rank; currently the Commanders of Craigor are Magni XXXVI of Mull, Phaistos Rex of Barulis, and Verana, The Sublime Strategist.

Appearances of “The Holy Army of Craigor” coincide with eras associated with great turmoil and conflict. The Arch Commander is the highest ranking among Craigor’s devout, and during the times when there is a Holy Army of Craigor active, the Arch Commander is considered to be the highest ranking official in the Army.

Temples of Craigor can be found across the world, some of the more well-known are in Syrranak, Corsic, and Dornadur, but the most renowned holy site is in Mull, known as The Fields of Craigor. It is said that the god Himself was born from the red sands of Mull; and that the first Magni was given divine inspiration to write the Rules of War, standing over a multitude of defeated warriors on the Fields of Craigor. Many worshipers aspire to make a pilgrimage here at least once in their lifetime.

Craigor’s colors are red and white, and His symbol is a double-bladed ax split horizontally, giving the appearance of four ax-heads, mounted upon a pedestal.
